The ICON Portable Hoists’ compact construction is ideal for use in small spaces and non-standard-width doorways. Perfect for a domestic or care environment! Patients can be easily transferred directly to a bathtub, toilet or bed and back, quickly without any heavy manual lifting.
The leg spreading function enables the hoist to be close to chairs, beds or wheelchairs, which helps with stabilising the transfer process. This mobile patient hoist is also capable of emergency floor lifts with the use of an optional sling, designed for the purpose.
With a safe working load of 25.9st., the ICON portable/mobile hoist is suitable for the majority of users. The ICON Portable hoist uses standard “loop” slings, which we can also provide upon request.

ICON Portable Hoist FAQs
I'm straining my back lifting my family member in and out of bed and the bath, what's the solution?
A mobile patient hoist like the ICON Portable Hoist eliminates manual lifting entirely, using a battery-powered arm to lift and transfer a person safely between bed, bath, toilet, chair and wheelchair without any physical strain on the carer. It’s compact enough for Dubai apartments and villas with tight bathrooms and narrow doorways, with a base just 640mm wide and a 1400mm turning diameter.
What weight can the ICON Portable Hoist lift?
It’s available in 150kg and 180kg versions, with the 180kg model rated to a safe working load of 25.9 stone, suitable for the majority of users. The team can advise which version best fits the user’s weight and needs.
Is the ICON hoist suitable for small spaces and narrow doorways?
Yes. Its compact construction is specifically designed for small spaces and non-standard-width doorways, with a base just 640mm wide and a 1400mm turning diameter. This makes it well suited to tight bathrooms and apartments where larger hoists won’t fit.
Can the ICON hoist get close enough to the bed or chair to make transfers safe in a small Dubai apartment?
Yes, the adjustable leg-spread opens the hoist’s legs to 1020mm inside width, allowing it to straddle chairs, beds and wheelchairs and bring the hoist directly over the user rather than requiring them to lean or be moved first. This makes transfers significantly safer and more comfortable in tight spaces, reducing the risk of falls or drops during the transfer process.
Will the ICON hoist run out of charge in the middle of a transfer?
No, the ICON Portable Hoist delivers up to 40 lift cycles per charge, comfortably covering a full day’s transfers before recharging is needed. A built-in battery status indicator shows the remaining charge at all times, and the hoist lifts at a smooth, consistent 30mm per second regardless of battery level throughout its charge cycle.
Can the ICON hoist be used for emergency floor lifts?
Yes. With an optional sling designed for the purpose, the ICON Portable Hoist can perform emergency floor lifts, for example after a fall. This adds an extra layer of safety for carers and users at home or in care.
Does the hoist fold down for storage or transport?
Yes. The ICON hoist is easy to fold and dismantle, folding to a height of about 455mm and weighing around 40kg in total. This makes it simple to store at home or transport in a vehicle when needed.
Do I need to buy a separate sling for the ICON Portable Hoist, and how do I choose the right one?
Yes, a suitable sling is required for every transfer and is purchased separately from the hoist itself. The ICON Portable Hoist uses standard loop slings, which Dubai Mobility can supply on request in the right size and type for your specific transfer needs — general transfers, toileting or bathing each require a different sling design, and the team can advise on the best option on +971 4898 0300.
How high does the ICON hoist lift?
The hoist lifts from a minimum sling hook-up height of 415mm up to a maximum of 1660mm, giving a wide range for floor-level lifts through to higher transfers. Its 35mm ground clearance and 115mm leg height help it slide under beds and furniture.
Can I rent the ICON Portable Hoist instead of buying?
Yes. Alongside purchase, Dubai Mobility offers mobile patient hoists to hire, which suits short-term recovery or temporary needs. Purchases include home delivery and setup, with flexible payment options and 10 years of service experience behind them.
