Following on from the hugely successful range of Go-Go Elite Traveller mobility scooters, the Apex Rapid shares all their best features with some great additions. A rare feature for a scooter that goes in the boot of the car, Pride have equipped this latest model with their new “Comfort Trac Suspension” system, known as CTS.
This should soak up the bumps in the pavement and ensure your ride is as comfortable as possible. Standard features include a soft touch wrap-around delta tiller, a powerful LED kerb light and a high-level charging point. You will also get a comfortable swivel seat, adjustable armrests and a scooter that comes apart very easily to put in the boot of the car. There are also two sets of coloured panels, so you can change between blue and red as the mood takes you.
In its standard form, the maximum range is 10 miles. If this is not enough for your purposes, the optional larger 18 AH batteries will take you up to 13 miles between charges, and the Apex Rapid can comfortably cope with a user just over 21st. in weight. This model now comes with 7″ front wheels and larger 8″ wheels to the rear. Once taken apart, the heaviest section of this scooter only weighs just over 36 lbs. The Pride Apex Rapid is a robust and stylish mobility scooter and is sure to make a name for itself as one of the best-equipped models on the market today.
What is a mobility scooter?
A mobility scooter is an electric vehicle that can provide a simple and affordable way of getting out and about independently if you have mobility problems. A typical mobility scooter looks a bit like the ATTO Sport but functions more like a cross between a motorised wheelchair and a motor scooter. However, they travel much more slowly than motor scooters, with maximum speed of 4.4mph.
Although there are different types available, all mobility scooters have bike-style steering (a ‘tiller’) to direct the wheels, large padded upright seats and simple controls. They are powered by batteries.
Who is a mobility scooter suitable for?
Mobility scooters can be ideal if you have limited mobility but still want to be able to visit friends and family nearby, do your shopping or get around town without relying on others to help you get around.
They’re suitable if you have a good sitting balance, the ability to step on and off, adequate eyesight and a good memory. However, if you have problems with any of the above, or if you have a medical condition that is likely to change, this might not be the best solution for you.
